Indian
food finds a good place in the menu of so many famous restaurant and
food joints when a majority of population in the world is making their
ways of life totally vegetarian. Indian food is known for their both
vegetarian and non vegetarian styles of cooking. But what attract most
people to it are the richness, nourishment and taste that is maintained
even in vegetarian dishes. Perhaps no other country or place could have
such delicious vegetarian food as prepared in India.

The common
image of vegetarian food in the West is that - they are tasteless, full
of green vegetables, and some cream on them for beating the raw taste.
This is what is actually thought about vegetable dishes in most
countries in the west. They either boil the vegetables with some salt
or serve with cream, sausage or other ingredients. But when you come to
India and taste the vegetarian dishes, the whole concept of vegetarian
food as tasteless plates change. They can be more delicious and
aromatic than non-vegetarian food.

The India vegetarian food has
touch of its culture, place and people. Almost every corner of the
nation has some famous vegetarian dishes. They are not simple bowel
filled with vegetables made without any sort of delicacy. Rather they
are more nutritious, rich and healthy food than non-vegetarian dishes.
For instance you take the example of –mixed vegetable’ a special item
prepared where more than 4-5 vegetables are used and cheese or Soya is
used for additional touch. You won’t believe the aroma of the vegetable
dish to be a vegetarian one. It smells better than any meat prepared
dish.

The rich aroma of Indian food is due to the use of spices
of different kinds. You can now learn about them and prepare within
your home some famous vegetarian dishes. Prepare a dish and make your
children and husband relish on it. They would find it difficult to
believe that it is actually a vegetarian dish. It is the exotic style
of Indian cooking with use of spices, ghee, and butter that make them
so delectable.

The variety of Indian style of cooling of
vegetarian food never makes anything monotonous. You have varied styles
of cooking which are diverse and distinct. If you have tried some North
Indian Punjabi Vegetarian food, you can now try with some Bengali
vegetarian food which are known for their taste and mouth water aroma;
then you have the South Indian dishes, the Goan recipes, Gujarati food,
Maharashtrian exclusive dishes, or Kashmiri vegetarian dishes, sweets
prepared from vegetables like carrots, beats, berries and others.

Scorching summer, sweaty weather has again made its existence felt, in its
every possible way. Now what is your strategy to fight back or to give it up?
In case you opt for latter one, here’s how . All the seasons bring with
them definite do's along with don’ts. So does this sweltering and blazing
 summer, especially Indian summers.

Avoid oily food

Eating excess of fried food causes lethargy. So go for grilled stuff, steamed,
boiled and roasted eatables instead. Such food not only keeps you healthy but
 also makes

Reduce ingestion of beverages

Consuming excess of tea and coffee increases your urination period, leading
to more water loss. You can always go for required amount of such drinks, but
as they dehydrate your body fluids, so keep a proper check on their intake level.

Avoid eating stale foodstuffs (fruits and vegetable)

Do not cut Fruit and vegetables much earlier since it leads to water loss thereby
causing degradation of their nutritional content that is why it is always recommended
to consume only freshly peeled and chopped fruit and veggies. Make sure you
avoid stale food because such a Food might be breeding floor for various bacteria.

Avoid excessive smoking and alcohol intake

Avoid both drinking alcohol and smoking cigars and cigarettes, as they dehydrate
the contents of our body taking away the required oxygen substance from the
blood vessels thereby causing suffocation in our lungs.

Avoid drinks rich in acidic contents

Try to Avoid such soft drinks since they produce gases in our body which leads
to digestion problems like gastrointestinal distresses like stomach aches, diarrhea,
vomiting etc. so, instead of feeding yourself with such processed carbonated
drinks you can consume lemonade, lassi, jaljeera and home-made drinks like mango
panna. These drinks help in maintaining the electrolyte balance of the body.
Also, yoghurt if consumed with sugar reduces the acid that gets produced in
the body because of former carbonated drinks.

Eat in less quantity

Over eating in any season is bad. Make sure your Chew your food bites properly
and leave the habit of eating in hurry. In such sweltering summer, go for light
meals, particularly at night. Otherwise you may go through indigestion, loose
motions or vomiting. Avoid long gaps between meals too. Eat three times a day,
interspersed with frequent snacks like salads, sprouts and fruits.

A poor diet has a pronounced effect on your life. It drains your mental and
physical energy. It affects your mood and hampers the clarity of your mind.
We had always been encouraged to eat healthy and the bookshops are full of diet
books. It’s a fact that you will feel better if you eat well. It is also
important to have a balanced diet. However, part of that balance can also be
those junk-food treats we can enjoy from time to time. Below simple things are
discussed that if you implement, can improve your diet.

Drink lots of water

Our body is made up of 70% of water, so it is very essential to maintain this
balance. Drink plenty of water especially when the weather is warm or when you
are feeling hot. Try to build the habit of carrying bottle, consequently you’ll
 find drinking more water.

Watch the fat

A totally fat-free diet would not be healthy, so banning fat is bad. However,
some particular forms of fats would be better than what you taking now, so watch
out what you are eating and construct a good eating habit for yourself and your
 family too.

One lump not two

Reducing your daily intake of highly refined sugar can help you great deal
in controlling your weight. Do not push too hard but cut down your sugar consumption
level slowly so that you probably won’t notice the difference.

Watch the alcohol

If you drink, remember that alcohol is packed with calories and won’t
help you lose weight. Drinking too much can also damage your health. So, think
 twice before you drink.

Don’t skip breakfast

A good breakfast literally sets you up for the day. Keep in mind that skipping
breakfast is an invitation to start snacking, which is major cause of over weight.

Go raw

Fruits, raw vegetables and nuts make a great snack. They are more satisfying
than biscuits and have good nutritional content too.

Fill up with fibre

These day processed foods are much in demand, but people forget that these
foodstuffs are low in fibre content. So if times commit you to convenience foods,
try topping up with high fibre snacks.

With the advent of foreign fashion brands and their flashy hoardings and thin
super model all playing well in them, everyone gets keen to shed those extra
kilos of their body to attain the same looks. Every single one reminisces- I
want to look like those super modes but failed to realize that their body isn’t
 that type.

This sometimes makes these self confessed chocoholic and junk food addicts
to survive on boiled food and vegetable juices, for entire year thus ultimately
making them appear emaciated and like a dead duck just for the purpose of tearing
down the weight. some confidently opt for the internationally popular Atkins
diet, which focuses on loading up on proteins and small amount of carbohydrates.,
but these group of people too failed to understand that even strict adherence
to this diet too does not guarantee you the wishful effects. Other times, many
hang about on every fad diet so that they can mange to loose a bit of their
weight but soon after they gain back again.

If you are also worried that your diet plans may doom too, then don’t
be despair. Here lies the solution. You can go for customized food plan. But
make sure before implementing on it, to get it ideally prepared by qualified
professionals keeping in mind your individual lifestyle and medical history
 in mind.
Given below are some popular diets:

Atkins diet

This popular diet belongs to the low carbohydrate plan. But this high protein
and fat diet can lead to damaged kidneys, elevated blood pressure, sugar and
cholesterol. It can also cause gout and constipation.

Blood type diet

This diet advocates eating food according to your blood group. For e.g. those
with blood group B (negative) should not go for tomatoes, wheat, moong dal and
bananas. It is practically very hard to follow because it requires meticulous
planning, to avoid s wide range of food groups. Besides, such blanket ban on
food types can cause vitamin deficiencies.

Vegan diet

This is pure vegetarian diet which avoids animal and dairy products. It’s
tough to follow, when dairy products forms an intrinsic part of Indian meals.
More significantly, this can lead to vitamin B12 and vitamin D3 deficiencies.

South beach diet

This diet avoids cereals and fruits and concentrates on proteins. But the imbalance
can lead to constipation, acidity and gout.

It is often repeated that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
A hearty breakfast is the secret to glowing looks and bountiful energy throughout
the day. Yet, so many children and office –goers still leave home without
it and weight watchers still feel they can miss out breakfast. Many say, they
are not hungry in the morning.

Even if you do not recognize hunger, the body does give out signals that it
is low on fuel, getting near to ground level. Studies of school children aged
nine to eleven shows that those who skipped breakfast have a slower reaction
time and more muscle fatigue, low energy levels in school sports. Their average
scores are lower on written tests, compared to breakfast eaters. They may look
indolent and sluggish to the teacher in comparison to their other classmates
who had proper breakfast because they haven’t had the protein that really
 wakes up the brain.

Office goers who pass over breakfast are usually big consumers of office tea
and coffee-a means of staying alert and suppressing hunger. Adult breakfast
–skippers may have trouble concentrating on work ,keeping themselves focused
on their job task thereby showing lower work output on their job front. They
are also likely to be petulant, gouchy and impatient and annoyed at work which
can be easily visible through their working styles and patterns even if given
a loose view, along with clock watching frequently for lunch hour.

After an overnight fast, the blood sugar level drops. Strangely it needs protein
not sugar to build it up again. Fatigue, anxiety, forgetfulness, confusion-all
these have been linked to low blood sugar levels, usually caused by hunger.
Some nutrients like protein and calcium are better absorbed if they are taken
in small quantities; several times a day .best is a good breakfast with protein
for alertness and carbohydrates for action. Small amounts of fat and sugar are
all right but just enough to tempt the appetite. So before stepping out always
remembers that a packed lunch and a big dinner cannot make up for nutrition
 missed in the morning.
